Summer Mantle Decor

Are you all ready for summer? Have you got great plans to the sea-shore or the lake? How about some fun camping, hiking, or picnics? Standing on the front steps of my house as I look west I have a great view of The Great Salt Lake. The sunsets are pretty incredible over the lake. So, I decided to add a little of this beauty to my mantel and around the house.

sea mer 1

Of course my little mermaid came out for the summer. I painted my mantle a lovely light blue and hung a paper book garland to bring the color of the sand to my seaside vignette. These great blue bottles came from my favorite junk shop Lost and Found, they add some great color to the mantle. I think they still have some sand in them. lol

I stuck a starfish in the top of one of the blue bottles for fun.

I brought out my little octopus out for some deep blue sea fun.

sea birds

Here some seashells and birds are perched on some old paint blue books.

I used my vintage Ball jars with seashells in them and starfish to add some deep blue sea life to the mantle. I always have to have a piece of lace added some where.

sea izy

My little TINY stole the show. Can you believe that I tend my four grands in my little nest and they hardly ever mess with my pretties. My children were the same way, I guess I have trained them well. lol

I added this sweet book The Ghost Ship to my coffee table, it’s one of the books that I am reading to my grands this summer.

Mary Higgins Clark is the author. So it is very well written and Wendell Minor is the illustrator, the pictures are beautiful. I just love children’s books.

sea toes

To join in the fun my two little grand daughters and I painted our toenails blue. They are a tad messed up because TINY kept walking on them.

To change the subject I just have to add something to my brag book.

Nathan Firefighter

This is Nathan my youngest son, he is a Fireman for Unified Fire Department in Salt Lake County. He just finished testing for his advanced EMT and passed it with flying colors.

His next step is paramedic school and then nursing. I am really proud of him, he is also a great son, husband, and father of four darling children.

Let me know if you have anything fun planned this summer and what you have done to bring it indoors. Have an amazing week!

xoxo Jo

  1. Congratulations to your son, great accomplishment! Love your mantle beachy theme! I am redoing my office in a subtle beach theme and loving getting it decorated! How nice to have a lake view from your home, must be gorgeous! Many blessings, Cindy

  2. The dark blue bottles and lighter Ball jars, together with all the other sea-themed curiosities really add a vintage nautical flavor to your mantel, perfect for a ‘vintage’ summer! The colorful child’s book, Ghost Ship, adds a bit of child-like wonder, color and mystery to the vignette. I ,too, try to change things up for spring: change out the heavier, darker curtains for lighter sheers, put white slipcovers over my green couch, with lighter colored pillows. My mantel and side porch table take on spring themes, too.
Congratulations to your youngest on his accomplishments! I teach English at a community college and know how difficult the EMT programs can be, especially when students have the added responsibilities of jobs and families. With his already proven dedication, he should do just as well in the paramedic and nursing programs–society is lucky to have people like him!

    • Thank you so much for your encouraging words about my son. He is really a great man and loves serving his community. Your home sounds beautiful. Thank you for visiting. I always love your lovely comments. Hugs, Jo

  3. Congratulations to your wonderful son, dear Jo! I can understand why you’re so happy and thankful for him 🙂

Your mantle looks simply lovely! The pretty blues are very refreshing. Thanks for sharing with Roses of Inspiration. Hugs to you!

  4. The blue takes me back to the beach. It’s so fresh and clean. Thanks so much for sharing. Visiting from Home Matters Linky.

  5. Jo, I am loving your seaside mantle! I love aqua bottles and I have a collection of navy ones also. If I had a starfish I would copy you and add one to mine. Your mermaid is simply darling. When we were in CO I saw the cutest saying about mermaids in a shop. I wish I would have written it down. I didn’t because I thought I would remember it. Darn, the mind isn’t what it use to be. lol! Thanks for sharing with SYC.

I love to read your comments. Thank you!
