My Grown Up Christmas List

Have you ever sat down and written a letter to Santa, or write your bucket list? How about resolutions?

Seven years ago I wrote a list to God. I needed some big blessings and I knew that I could wait for his timing. So I wrote my needs and wants on strips of paper then put them in a box and wrapped it beautifully. This is to be open in April of  2016. It is coming up soon. I know that I have been blessed through many huge challenges, but I don’t feel like I am where I would like to be in my life right now. So I can’t imagine those strips of paper coming to pass – or have some of them come to pass? I do have four months to go before I open it.

I want to share with you my Grown up Christmas List.

This was first on my list. A cottage of my own. With lots and lots of flowers.

Gorgeous house. Love the gingerbread.:

(All sources come from my pins on Pintrest.)

This has a "Great Expectations" feel to it... don't ya think!?:

In this house I would have this fireplace.Love the painted floors and star ceiling light:

This would be the entry way. I love gray and white checks painted on old wood floors.painted Shabby Chic furniture:

This would be my new farmhouse sofa set. I kinda looks like one that I am working on.

.:

With a kitchen like this I would bake all day.

Are you still with me while I am designing my dream house? Okay let’s move on. . .

pretty pink cupboard...:

I’ve got to have this wonderful pink chippy hutch in my dinning room.

French Accents | The Must Have Decorating Book | Edith & Evelyn Vintage:

Here is a wonderful guest bedroom. Awe, the picture is just like mine.

Aiken House & Gardens ...Off the chart Fabulous - LOOK at all the Detail!:

Here is the guest bathroom. Are you loving my dream home yet?

This is my dreamy bedroom. Awe. . .

.:

here is my bathroom.

Couture Prairie by Rachel Ashwell:

and last but not least here is the patio, all screened in and so welcoming.

Well these are my make believe wishes, you know the one that you dream about and probably will never come true. But for now I take the sweet little rooms that I have and make them into my dream world.

There are so many more important wishes in my life that I would love to see come true, like . .

Journey Awareness Yoga - Bits of Truth... all quotes:

this one I have had to learn the hard way, it doesn’t come come all wrapped up in a neat little package, but comes from gifts from God, like through special friends that he brings into your life.

Never forget that walking away from something unhealthy is brave - even if you stumble a little on your way out the door.:

If there was anything I could do to help future generations it would be to push world peace. The only possible way to help create world peace is to do simple kind actions everyday, and pass it forward. You treat others the way you want to be treated,:

This happens one person at a time.

Am I the only one who noticed when two people are about to kiss it creates this less than perfect heart shaped image? I think it is one of God's amazing pieces of art that is part of us. That when two people are in love, their relationship is far from perfect but they still love each other.:

I know that I am not young anymore but I can still dream, and I know that it will come if it is right. Loving a special somebody is one of the greatest experience in the world to me, and I hope that I will get a second chance.

46 Birth Photos That Are Worth Having A Baby For...it's amazing, you know what you're on the table to do..all the pushing and breathing, but once the little one hits the air you're shocked. i love it.:

After experiencing this four times I am a fulfilled women. This is the greatest gift of all. Being a Mother.

"Come Follow Me" by Brent Borup please help the persecuted christians support www.opendoors.org:

As I look back on my life I have received many great gifts and if I never have a package tied all up with a bow sitting under my tree that’s okay I have received the greatest gifts in the world and the greatest and most cherished gift of all is knowing that I am a child of the Divine. This is my grown up Christmas list.

The Warmest Merry Christmas to All !

  1. Beautifully said Jo. I know you will achieve all those wishes in the box. You are so determined and so full of hope for your changes that I know these will happen for you. God is good and he will be with you as your journey takes on new and more positive things. You have come a long way and I know you will continue to grow and thrive. Hugs.

  2. Thank you for this wonderful post to wake up to after all the horrific news we have been hearing on the news. Starting the day with thankfulness and hope is always a good thing! You certainly have achieved and gone beyond what you wished for by being able to motivate and inspire so many people-what greater gift an anyone give anyone else, especially when it does not cost a penny? Looks like you have achieved the spirit of the rooms in your own little nest without having to bear the burden those high ceilings that are not easy to clean, esp. in that beautiful bathroom with the chandy over the slipper tub! Inner peace, health and love are the most important of all. Thanks for such an inspirational post and keep being true to yourself!
(I need to know where I can get that gothic mirror in the small bathroom and love, love the Madonna plaque-would love to have that! )

    • Philomena, you are so intuitive. I woke up two night ago and just started typing this post. I just listened to my heart and went for it. I don’t usually put myself out there like this but there was something that my Heavenly Father wanted me to get out there. The comments have been so beautiful. Have a wonderful day my friend. Love, Jo

  3. Yes I have made a bucket list and fulfilled some things on it like 2 trips to New York City this year and girl did I spend and shop and see everything I could in 2 weeks.
Then I went to Medjugorje in Bosnia where the Blessed Virgin Mother is still appearing to young people call visionaries. I even stayed in one of their homes and was blessed beyond my imitation. Our # 1 thing on all our list should be to personally know Jesus/God.

I love your dream home and love your dream pink chippy cabinet.
I dreamed about meeting another man in my life also however at my age now I don’t think it will happen. I have been a widow over 8 years now ( I am really unloading my thought ) sorry

I hope when you open your prayer memory box lots of your prayers have been answered

    Cheers Janice

  4. I haven’t followed you for very long Anne, so I know there’s an awful lot I don’t know about you and your past, but I hope whatever is in that jar will come to you in time.

  5. Jo,
The search for inner piece took me most of my life. I understand you are on your own journey to heal and achieve complete inner peace. Keep your dreams alive, for they will guide you on your path. My path still has occasional hurdles/health issues to jump over but I won’t allow them to slow me down. I love that you wrapped a box with wishes in it. I love the concept of Tibetan prayer flags that are thousands of years old. Where they hang fabric prayer flags and let the winds, rain and elements tatter and fray the fabric bit by bit sending their wishes and prayers up to the heavens. We too can adapt this with a simple wish or request to God written down on fabric and hang it outdoors and watch it tatter and fray. I truly “Believe” if you put it out there in a wish it will be answered. As long as the wish is loving from the heart.

Now let me just say WOW to the enchanting cottage dripping in gingerbread. Love the color combo of white, Bleu and Grey. A truly magical fireplace – love the candelabra on the mantel and that guest bathroom is just divine. Love and happiness never grows old because our inner child remains forever young.
Thank you for your visit to Believe I always love the gift of words you leave behind.
    xoxo,
    Vera

  6. I liked this post very much, Jo. Your dream cottage is wonderful, and I love everything you showed. I agree with Philomena that you have achieved the spirit of that cottage in your own current space. You are so creative and so full of life. God has gifted you with love, kindness, perseverance, hope, faith and joy. My feeling is that you are a blessing to other women through your experience and through your ability to make a beautiful, charming home right where you are. You are living that dream, Jo. You are. ❤ ~ Nancy

  7. Jo, I absolutely love your grown-up Christmas list – not only the pictures of your dream home but also the inspiring pictures and words you’ve included in the post. Like others that have commented, I really think you have already achieved the essence of those room pictures in your own space. It may not be exactly like the pictures here, but it’s your own interpretation, which is really all we can expect isn’t it. I might just have to start a board on pinterest to keep some inspiration photos too.

  8. Hi Jo, I don’t know much of what life has thrown at you, but I feel the longing in your words. It will come…whatever it is that you need. I know this from my own struggles. Let me say this to you, as a woman who has been thru some terrible things…your spiirt is alive in you. It’s alive in your wish box, it’s alive in your words. God has sent you what you need and I truly believe that he has sent you love and support thru the hearts of these women in blogland. Sharing our dark times brings us closer to our truest selves- we grow and learn from one another. We have risen to meet all sorts of challenges. You are full of life and creativity and dreams- and I’d call that very special. And I’d call it healing. You are healing.
Your dream home is wonderful- I’ll be thinking of the chippy pink cabinet all evening! 🙂

    • Thanks sweet Cindy. I don’t think that anything special will be under the tree this year but that’s okay it’s been that way since I have been single. For me that’s just how it goes. Have a wonderful Christmas Season. Hugs, Jo
