A Touch for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s day has been a very perplexing day for me over the last several years.  I am much more open to Valentine’s day than I use to be. It doesn’t mean I have to have a gentleman on my arm to make the day complete, no, for me it’s all of my loved ones that really give there heart to me. It’s the elderly widower who lives on the corner and brings me tomatoes.

It’s holding a little one who smiles up to me with those sweet innocent eyes. It’s those who help keep our nation free, and so much more. There the real Valentine’s and heroes in my life.

I want to share with you today some of my Valentine decor. It sweet and romantic. I am a Romantic and because of that I am not a minimalist. I don’t think that the old Victorian Romantics new how to be a minimalist. They enjoyed beautiful things and displayed them with pride. I believe this is what brings much warmth and beauty into our homes. I had a newly found friend come and visit me during the holidays and she was overwhelmed at the beauty and warmth of my home. When I decorate I do it from the heart. ♥ I think that your home is a reflection of your heart. It gives a sort of reverence to your home, and peace that we all need so badly at times. My children grew up with this love of home and so are my grandchildren. It is much more than just decor to me, it becomes spiritual in a sense to show your love through your home.

Shopping my little nest is the easiest and lest expensive way for me to shop. I think you will be very surprised at just how much Valentine decor you will find by shopping your own home. Look for heart shaped items and anything that gives you a romantic feeling.

To me angels and cherubs come to mind when thinking of Valentine’s day.

I collect Angels and Madonna’s so it is fun to add them to my Valentine vignettes. Along with my crowns and angel wings. The sweet little wooden hearts was a gift from one of my son’s when he was in his high school shop class.

Many of my beautiful pieces will be going to my new shop Anne’s Attic – design. I’m not to said about it because I ‘m pretty sure that they will be replaced by many other pieces that I give a new face lift to. I love to change things up. I will be sharing some of those in later posts.

I will be closing my Etsy shop, mainly because of the postage increase and the fact that my life has become to busy. If you love something that I show that is going to my shop just let me know and I will gladly work out a price with you and ship it out.

Here is my Valentine to you.

  1. Love your romantic style Jo! It will be fun to rotate some of your treasures. If you’re like me, you’ll love finding more. Looking forward to see upcoming projects that you create for the shop.

  2. Jo I always enjoy a peek into your romantic home, rotating and changing accessories is always fun. Love to shop my own home for a new vignette in a different room. Have a delightful Valentine’s Day with the ones you love.

  3. I totally get you on what you said about not be a minimalist. I think that is the problem I have with getting rid of things I love, especially my holiday décor which is always a good excuse for showing off the fact that I am a romantic at heart! Love your romantic style and am sure your space in the shop will exude it!
Ps-I love angels, wings and Madonnas, too!

  4. Love your beautiful house:-) And the decorations:-)
I do agree with you that Valentine’s day is a celebration of all kind of love, not only love between a man and a woman. But we also must remember that we should cherish our beloved ones every single day not only on Valentine’s Day.
    Greetings:-)

  5. I so agree that Valentine’s day shouldn’t be reserved for couples – there are so many other people in this world to love. I see there are a number of people throughout blogland that are closing their on-line shops due to postage costs. It’s a shame that the post office has to ruin everyone’s fun!

    • Thank you Shirley for visiting. I have been so crazy busy with getting my shop open, tending 4 grands and living life that I haven’t be able to visit much. Hopefully that will change soon. Have a wonderful Valentine weekend with hubby. Jo
