Romantic Finds

Welcome! Today I will be sharing some of my wonderful Romantic Finds that I have repurposed and will be adding to my shop or not! lol

I found these great mirrors at my favorite antiques store here in Bountiful Utah USA, Lost and Found Thrift.  The mirrors are very sturdy and heavy, they had the reddish color stain on them that so many antique pieces have and it will bleed through if you don’t use a blocker before you paint on your initial color.

I used Vintage Market paint blocker that works perfect, one coat of the blocker then two coats of Cotton by Vintage Market paint. I then rubbed on white wax to seal it and bring out a lovely luster. They turned out just perfect.

I fell in love with this sweet old sepia picture of a mother and her babe. The patina on the picture is incredible.

Here is a wonderful antique frame and water color that I found and knew it had to come home with me. I am changing out some of my art and putting it in my shop and thought that this would be the perfect picture. The patina on it is lovely as is so I won’t be repurposing the frame.

I finally found the perfect piece to my puzzle with this great rod iron piece above the mirror on the fireplace. I have been looking for an architectural piece that was just the right size to go there. I painted it white then added some antiquing glaze. Many times if the piece doesn’t have the right patina on it that I like I just recreate it myself. Sometimes it takes a while to finish my puzzles but it’s worth the wait no matter how small.

The old dress form and old desk drawer are some of my newest projects that I will share soon. I have some really fun ideas for these two pieces. I will give you a clue on how I am going to repurpose them, it has to do with old books.

What would you do to repurpose these items for your home?

  1. That small mirror is so sweet – I could happily give it a home too. And while I’m at it, I think I might just sneak over to your place and maybe, just maybe, that dress form might happen to disappear. Just sayin’…

  2. Great finds Jo! I love how you have redone some of them and love that you aren’t going to redo the frame on the painting, it’s perfect just the way it is!
You have been busy my dear.
I hope you enjoy your weekend down there in Utah.
    sending hugs…

  3. Lots of wonderful finds Jo, that may or may not show up at the store, lol. I especially love that large mirror and the small one would look stunning leaning against the wall on top a dresser or credenza but of course I would secure it to the wall to just look like it’s propped. Hmmmm book covers or pages, time will tell.

  4. What beautiful pieces you have. I am thinking of looking for some antique mirrors as they seem to be an interesting part of people’s decor.

    Have a great weekend, Kelly.

  5. Your mirrors look beautiful, Jo! It’s always so much fun to paint and transform our finds, isn’t it? Sounds like you have some neat decoupage projects in the works:) Can’t wait to see what you do with the drawer. I have one too, though mine doesn’t have the dividers that yours does, that I plan on repurposing. I think yours would look so neat with the addition of some chunky wooden legs on the bottom!

  6. I love your decorating style and sense. It’s just my taste. The repurposed mirrors look super and I can’t wait to see what you do with the old dress form. Thanks so much for sharing your blog on the #HomeMattersParty

  7. Enjoyed looking at all of your wonderful vintage finds. Especially love the sepia print and wonderful framed print. My favourite thing though has to be the green shutters over your fireplace! The Patina is just gorgeous? DId you paint them or did you find them that way? For now I will have to live vicariously through you as I have been given a moritorum on buying any more stuff so that we can move. ;o)

  8. Jo, just stopping by to let you know that I’ve featured your pretty post at Five Star Frou-Frou this week. I loved your little finds so much, and you gave me some inspiration for displaying some of my own pretties. Thanks so much. Love, Mimi xxx
