Back Through the Years

Welcome everyone! I am most grateful to all of you for your support of my blog. It has been a fun road to travel. Meeting new blogging friends has been the best part. I have learned much through many of your blogs on home design and through that I have carved out my own design “Romantic Farmhouse”.  For almost forty years I decorated my home in the primitive design. When my nest was empty I wanted my new nest to reflect me not the other five family members that lived with me at the time. Since I was single and ready for a change.  I thought that I would show you my little nest through my years of blogging, which will be three years coming up in April. Wow, time goes by so fast! I will be celebrating that with a giveaway so make sure you stop by in April for the details.

Here is my very first post.  April 23, 2014.  It was very short and sweet. I’m not sure if anyone even saw the first few posts. I was still learning how to use WordPress. I really wanted an outlet for sharing my decor ideas and the knowledge that I had learned from just graduating with my Interior Arts degree.

My little nest sure has evolved through the years. This is right after I moved into the basment apartment that my youngest son and his family have. It is a nice rambler that was built in 1960. It had been totally gutted and remodled by the previous owners.

This post was about achieving a wonderful patina on wood furnishings. I later found a better way. I’m loving the pink chair maybe I need to repaint it again. lol

I did a post on adding lace for a more feminine look to your home. Oh my, what was I thinking when I put that lamp in my home.

My nest was ready for Fall. Fall is my second favorite season. As you view the pictures you can tell that I have since muted the color in my decor a lot.

This post was about my lovely Capodimonte Porcelain lamps that I have. They are very girly girl and romantic.

Last but not least for the year of 2014 is my Christmas decor. I just noticed that I am giving a pinky wave as I shoot this picture. lol

There are many posts in between and a lot of them are tutorials that I did on projects. Hopefully I will get them all put together in one place so that you can view them better.

The year of 2015 started off with saving a beloved door.

This is the post that I wrote about the benefits of using sheepskin in your decor and for health purposes. I just love the look of them.

I loved making these paper garlands from old paperback books. They added texture and color to my decor.

Nancy from A Joyful Cottage has a series that she does on the weekends about living in small spaces and she so kindly viewed my tiny nest one weekend in 2015.

I had to laugh when I saw this post because I had updated the hutch three different times until I finally found a keeper. Then I saw the twine that I had put on the doors and drawers so tiny hands wouldn’t get into breakable items. lol

This post is about finding my beloved antique sofa and chair. I since gutted the furniture down to the bones and now it sits in my nest.

These changes really started me onto my true style that I love.

Christmas of 2015 I participated in two different Christmas tours and linky Christmas tours.

The February issue of Romantic Homes Magazine came out in January and with it was an article and pictures of my little nest that I shared. It was a really big honor for me.

In this post I showed some very simple ways to dress up your home for Valentine’s Day.

In this post I shared how I took a very old and dirty meat safe and made her beautiful and useful again.

In this post I share my lovely finished Victorian Italain sofa and chair that had been refinished all by me. It was really excited to see it in my home. I had never upholstered anything bigger than a chair cover before but I thought “how hard can it be”? There were times that I wished I had four hands but all in all it was a great experience and I learned a lot from it.

Here is Christmas 2016. It was a little late in coming but sometimes thats how life is.

Thank you for visiting today and I hope that you will take the time to view some of the past posts to help create a little ROMANCE in your home.

Have a wonderful week!

xx Jo

  3. Loved the retrospective! You have accomplished so much to be proud of, especially all the inspiration you have provided to everyone (esp. me)! However, this did remind me of the all projects I wish I could get to and that I am still looking for that bunny cookie jar (lol)! There is so much more good stuff to come from you–have fun with it and stay well in 2017!!! Spring is around the corner!

I was just thinking the other day about the post we did on your nest on my blog. That was so fun to do. We’ll have to come up with something else to collaborate on. You are so creative,my friend!
