A Introduction, Goodbye, Hello

I have lots going on in my life right now. It seems that life can throw you a curve and then you find out it is an amazing blessing. Before I go into that I want to introduce to you Ivory.

Ivory is the last piece to my puzzle on the wall behind my sofa. I have had the frame hanging there empty for a couple of years and have not found the right picture for it.

In the February Country Living Magazine they spotlighted neutral decor and shared a wonderful mill that had been moved and redone into a wonderful home! If you can get your hands on one of the magazine’s check it out it is amazing.

Anyway, the lady of the house Theresa Halverson or mill I should say couldn’t find the right picture that she wanted for her new home, so being that she lived in cheese country, Wisconsin she went out and found the right cow with the colors she loved and shot a picture of her. She now sells the prints on her Etsy shop at Millhouse Mercantile.  They come in different sizes. I love the whites and pinks in the face of Ivory. That’s what I call the cow. lol

Now for the goodbye. My little peace of heaven will be moving. This little home houses seven people and is splitting at the seams. So I sat down with my son and his wife and we decided that I should find a new place to live. We all wanted to make sure that this was the right decision so we were very prayerful about what I was to do. I ask Heavenly Father to find me a place close by and that I would be able to afford it. I ask that it would not hurt my heart or the hearts of my dear family that I have shared my life with. There were some tears but once my little grands saw that they could just walk over any time they needed a grandma fix they seemed much better. The biggest tears came from my son the big firefighter. I love it that a man can show emotions.

The roller skates above were a Christmas present from this sweet family.

Introduction –  Within 24 hours I found a darling duplex just two blocks away. The money was the right amount. It has 800 square feet. Almost the same that I have now. So everything that I have will fit. It also has lots of storage and that is so exciting for me. It has a great yard which is taken care of by the landlord with a wonderful deck to watch the beautiful sunsets over the Great Salt Lake.  I am packing and will have neighbors help me move this coming Saturday.

I will be posting as I decorate this darling little cottage. It’s full of windows! This is huge to me because I have lived in someone’s basement for the last eight years. The little cottage was built in 1960 and has not changed much since then. Because it is not mine I cannot change anything structural. So all of the changing will be through the decorating.

I want to name the cottage so I thought that I would let you guys name it for me. The person whose name I choose will win a sweet prize made by me. So make sure you leave a name in your reply!

Next time you hear from me it will be from my new cottage!

xoxo Jo

  1. That is wonderful, but also somewhat frightening at the same time; but, do not worry at all! You are still close to those that you love, and they are close to you. It will all work out very well, indeed! Remember the old saying, “When one door closes, another one opens” and you been through that one door more than once, so you will be just fine. You will be able to work with this new space wonderfully, and I can’t wait to see what you do with it all, esp. the windows! Love and hugs-but wish I could be there to help you move! 6. I can imagine your inner turmoil, Jo. The thought of moving can scare anyone, but I wish you inner peace. Blossom, New Leaf or Dream Catcher all seem possibilities as new names for your cottage. No matter your choice, Ivory is perfect! I dog-eared that page in last month’s CL issue, I loved it so much! Happy, safe trails.

    • Hi Nancy, I am finally moved and the house 🏡 looks so cute. I won’t have the internet for a couple of more weeks. Then I will post my little cottage. It costs so much to get into a place so many extras. Thank you for thinking of me. Have a wonderful weekend. xoxo Jo
