2014 in review

Hello dear friends I hope that your Christmas was joyous and full of family and friends. I am taking down Christmas and getting ready for the new year when my yearly report from WordPress came in and I want to share it with you. These are the results of my first 9 months of blogging results. Kind of like having a baby. LOL Thank you dear readers!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2014 annual report for this blog.

Here's an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 3,500 times in 2014. If it were a cable car, it would take about 58 trips to carry that many people.

Click here to see the complete report.

I love it when you leave comments, let me know what you would like to see more of.

Have a very warm New Year! Jo

Thanx to all my dear friends that have helped me along the way!

. . . and all through the house

Merry Christmas to all my dear friends out there in blog land. This will be my last post until after the first of the year. It’s time to enjoy the family while school is out. I want to share a poem that I thought was cute and reminded me of when I was small, thinking that if I was out of my bed and not a sleep Santa would not come. Also I would like to show you the rest of my home that is ready for Christmas!

BeFunky_allthroughthehousecollage.jpg

A squeak on the stairs.
Could Santa be here?
Better pull my blankets,
Up to my ears.

He comes down the chimney,
That’s how he gets in.
Santa uses magic,
To make himself thin.

I better keep still,
Can’t make a peep.
He doesn’t leave toys,
Unless you’re asleep.

My door just opened
Someone’s by my bed.
It wasn’t Santa after all,
Cause Mom just kissed my head.

I love making Christmas stockings. The stockings hanging from the fireplace I made to match the pillows on the sofa. The single stocking I made from vintage table cloths.

Great rusty buckles, rings and old red thread make for a lovely vignette on my work bench, which is closed down for the season.

The presents are wrapped and under the tree. Now I will spend most of my time in the kitchen baking.

No matter how many pretties that we put into our home and know matter how many good smells come from the kitchen the reason for Christmas is because of the Jesus Christ and his great sacrifice that he went through for us. Because of this we celebrate Christmas.

Have a beautiful Christmas with love in your hearts. Merry Christmas!

With love, Jo

Three Christmas Trees

Hello dear friends I have three great DIY trees to share with you, their fun, easy, and inexpensive to make. My grandchildren even helped me to craft them.

BeFunky_Tree 3.jpg

The first tree is made from old paper back books. I’m sure you can make them from any old book or thick magazines such as old Reader Digest magazines.

BeFunky_trees 6.jpg

First of all take the cover off the book, then count out 30 pages and separate from the spine. You will need two of these. Make sure the pages are still hooked to the spine. Then fold the top pages in toward the center, like above.

BeFunky_Trees 4.jpg

Fold them down one more time. As shown.

BeFunky_Trees how.jpg

You will have a little edge down at the bottom. Fold and tuck under. I didn’t do this the first time but tucking them under the page it will hold them better and it will not stick out. Do this to both 30 page sections, then glue them together. If you wish to add glitter do so before you glue the two sections together. Hold the pages together add small about of glue to the book edges and dip into glitter, then glue the two sections together.

BeFunky_trees make.jpg

This is how it will look after it is done.

BeFunky_tree feather 1.jpg

I bought this old tree for .50 at a thrift store to see if I could make it look like a feather tree. I removed some of the branches and wound some of them together. I left it green because I wanted it for a forest scene.

BeFunky_Tree feather decor.jpg

This is how it looks after I finished. I put some antique bells on them.

BeFunky_tree feather done.jpg

I like the way it turned out.

BeFunky_tree form.jpg

The third tree my three-year old Granddaughter helped me with. I used a tree form, then covered it in ruffled fabric, secured with hot glue. You can cover it in anything. Then we used vintage buttons for the ornaments.

BeFunky_tree 12.jpg

Here is how it looks when we finished. I never let the kids use the hot glue!

BeFunky_tree lace.jpg

I use it in a cute little wooded scene on my table with a wooden Santa and a rusted can with white branches in it.

I believe that with a little imagination you can create anything LOVERLY!

((WARM HUGS)) Jo

Thanx to all my dear friends!
